Kazakhstan clinches Wch berth number 22
Tuesday night saw Kazakhstan qualify for December’s World Championship in Denmark after their second victory in a row in the last IHF qualifying round which takes place in Almaty – the biggest city in Kazakhstan.
On Monday Mexico opened the tournament by beating Australia by 24-16 and Kazakhstan followed suit by defeating The People’s Republic of Congo 36-24.
Tuesday the Aussies had another clear defeat when they lost the match versus Congo by 12-32, and then Kazakhstan only needed a win in the match against Mexico to qualify for Denmark.
And the home side won by 26-20 and now they not only have four points but they are better head to head compared to number two and three in the tournament, Congo and Mexico.
The IHF now have to decide which countries will be given the two World Championship Wild Cards before the draw which takes place in Kolding on Wednesday the 24th of June.
