Russia ready for match for 5th place
France – Russia 25-31 (8-15)
Russia will compete for 5th place on Sunday following a win against France in the first match in Jyske Bank Boxen Friday.
It looked like a walk in the park for the Russians in the first 20 minutes of the match where they established a 10-3 lead inspired by fast winger Olga Chernoivanenko who scores four times in that period.
It was however another technically brilliant player, Anna Vyakhereva who took the scene later on and the 20 year old wizard was consequently honored as player of the match.
After a Russian lead of 15-8 at half time the French took up the pursuit in the second half and with seven minutes to go Grace Zaadi reduced the Russian lead to three goals 24-27.
But the Russians scored three times in a row and the decision was final.
Top scorers: Russia: Anna Vyakhereva 6, France: Grace Zaadi 6.
