Intense drama as Norway reaches final
Norway – Romania 35-33 (27-27) (17-14)
For the second match in a row Romania went into extra time after 27-27 in regular time but opposite to the quarterfinal versus Denmark the Romanians failed to win their semifinal versus Norway. But it was close.
In the end Norway won the fantastic and highly exciting encounter by 35-33 but in the final seconds of the regular time experienced Romanian player Valentina Ardean Elisei saw a very qualified attempt saved by the Norwegian goalkeeper Kari Grimsbo.
Norway was in control for all of the first half leading by three goals at half time. They succeeded playing fast with Stine Oftedal as the creative brain and Veronika Kristiansen and Nora Mork as main goalscorers with respectively 4 and 6 goals before the interval.
In the second half the Romanian defense and especially goalkeeper Paula Ungureanu raised their level and the Norwegians had a ten minute goal drought.
Romania went into a two goal lead but in the end the Norwegian favourites had the coolness and the luck.
